The Brief
When Botswana and De Beers co-hosted The Natural Diamond Summit (NDS) in Gaborone, the brief went beyond logistics. It was about storytelling on a national stage. The event needed to showcase Botswana’s evolution from a raw material exporter to a global hub for diamond cutting, polishing, and value addition while anchoring the “Building Forever” sustainability strategy.
Our role? To build the stage literally and figuratively for a moment of national pride and international significance.
The Process
We didn’t just wait for a brief. We came to the table with an idea.
Early in the conversations, we pitched a dome structure, a bold architectural statement that would set this summit apart from any before it. While the final direction evolved, that spirit of creative ambition carried through. We became the team trusted to bring the main stage to life.
Every element was intentional. The set design had to feel substantial enough for Heads of State, yet warm enough for a celebration of partnership. We balanced the lighting to give the room both gravity and glow. The staging was built to frame speeches that mattered including addresses from His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi and global industry leaders. The decor tied it all together, ensuring that from the moment guests walked in, they felt the weight of the occasion.
This wasn’t just a production. It was a collaboration. We listened, we advised, and we delivered a space that let the content breathe and the speakers shine.
The Result
A stage that matched the moment.
The summit successfully highlighted the positive impact of natural diamonds on Botswana’s economy over 80% of export earnings, 23% of GDP and reinforced the nation’s commitment to local skill development. But beyond the data, the room felt right. The lighting, the lines, the presence of the space all of it worked quietly, so the message could land loudly.
